I am fascinated by the process of making an image through the removal, rather than the addition, of materials. My work is excavation, a matter of subtraction and creative destruction.
Through the remains, an image forms, an image of something seen out of the corner of the eye, envisioned in the hypnagogic state between sleeping and waking, or imagined in bad light. These images are all common sights, caught as we really see them, once we’re unburdened of excess information.
